American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) has official copyright policies and guidelines that must be followed. There are three costs in submitting to ASCAP: 1) registration cost of US$75 (or $65 for international licenses), 2) yearly fee of US$22,000, and 3) a Talent Fee of US$6,000 and a Special Broadcast Contact Fee of US$10,000 (or $30,000 for international licenses). While there are no agreements of trade for the three fees, some recording artists and publishers have arrangements with ASCAP. There are also some exemptions from the registration costs. These exemptions include music that is used for performance purposes to which copyright has been obtained, and music submitted that has been published in a broad first national publication.
Breast cancer research studies in humans, as well as services to human subjects supporting a research study (be they volunteers to participate in a research protocol, research subjects from whom data is being collected, or study subjects from whom data is being obtained), are often reviewed by Institutional Review Boards (IRBs). The collection of human subjects samples (blood, tissues, or fluids) is constantly changing from research taking place, and the conducting of a new study may require the IRB to review an existing research protocol. The collection of psychosocial data can involve professional or even lay research subjects. The scope of services to research subjects, and the impact of those services, can range from emotional support to the completion of questionnaires to the administration of diagnostic medical testing. In order to help protect and promote the integrity of human subject research, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has adopted a policy requiring that federal investigators involved in human subjects research receive prior informed consent. d2c66b5586
